Time Valley Brief – Sketchbook development

Once my initial research was complete I put pencil to paper and tried to get as many ideas down on paper as possible.  My process is to start by mind mapping, creating as many ideas as possible based on word association.

As highlighted in earlier research I looked shapes that naturally occur in nature as I had the idea to incorporate pattern into my design.  Further research uncovered the Teme Valley’s heritage of cider production, so I developed the star pattern that is found in an apple if cut in half sideways.

Colour coding will be key to identifying each town and also to differentiate between walking & cycling routes.

Week 2 – From Rainforest to Big Mac

The research helped me to identify the key points that I wanted to illustrate in my infographic.  I usually like to get a few ideas down in my sketchbook at this point to help me plan and visualise the piece, before I hit the Mac.

The first image shows a few ideas I put down in my sketch book.

I then set about creating my infographic in illustrator.  5 hours later and here is the final result.
